Report an outage by calling toll-free
We all hate outages. At Southwest TN EMC, we continuously invest in industry best maintenance practices and electric system improvements in an effort to minimize loss of power to our members. Yet outages still occur from time-to-time. In an effort to provide more efficient ways to communicate with our members, STEMC is rolling out an outage texting notification system. Here’s how it works:
Save 85700 as a contact in your phone.
Text STEMC to 85700 to opt-in. (one time only)
To report an outage at your address,
simply Text OUT to 85700.
STEMC will communicate that the outage is received and send a link to our outage map.
Want to make sure STEMC is aware of your outage, or outages in the area?
Text STATUS to 85700.
We’ll even notify you via text of an outage in your area even if you aren’t home and let you know when power is restored to your area.
One important thing - we must have a valid mobile-phone number associated with your account. If you text STEMC to 85700 trying to opt-in and we do not have a valid phone number, you will be asked to call our office at 1-800-772-0472 to update our phone records. Phone number corrections will happen in our system overnight and you will be able to opt-in the following day or when your next outage occurs.
